Traditional Tales Week

Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 have had a brilliant week exploring the world of Traditional Tales. We kicked off every day with a reading of a Traditional Tale in assembly. The children were invited to bring in their favourite Traditional Tale from home to share within their class.

Nursery focused on 'The Gingerbread Man,' baking delicious gingerbread men which were sold at the PTA bake sale.

We dedicated an afternoon to the love of reading, 'Stories, Slippers and Hot Chocolate'. We put on our slippers and hunkered down for a cosy autumn afternoon of stories, reading and hot chocolate.

The week culminated in a dress up day. Everyone, including staff, enjoyed dressing up as Traditional Tales characters.

On Friday, Mr Hoban, or should we say King Hoban, took the Cambourne whole school assembly, reading the not so traditional tale, 'The Three Little Wolves and The Big Bad Pig'. The children acted out the story brilliantly. During the afternoon we had a sharing assembly in which each class retold a traditional tale which they had learnt using 'Talk For Writing'.

The week was thoroughly enjoyable and embraced by all as you can see from the photos. Over half term, children were challenged to take part in the whole school reading competition to read as many Traditional Tales as possible.
