Communication & Interaction

This area of development covers Speech and Language difficulties aswell as Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Social Communication Disorders. Speech and Language issues can be Language based (the way we use language to communicate and understand others), or Speech based (the way the sounds are produced).

Both Language difficulties and in particular, Social Communication difficulties or Autism can have a significant impact on how children are able to socialise. We work closely with our Speech Therapist and our ELKLAN TA, Lesley Tucker, to support children with these difficulties. Language issues can have an impact on the development of a child's writing skills.
