Young Voices 2025
An account of the day by Sofia B in Year 6.
Young voices 2025 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the children in KS2, and was full of laughs, smiles and lots of fun! The children arrived at normal time, then headed to the school li-brary after their teachers had completed the morning registration; whilst waiting for the coach, the pupils had a short final practice then headed off on their journey to the O2 arena!
Upon arrival, the choir had a brief packed lunch then headed to suites two hundred and thirty-one and two hundred and thirty-two where they sang on a balcony in a three-hour long rehearsal with many other school choirs for the first time!! Once they had eaten tea, it was concert time!
The air was filled with suppressed excitement as the young voices host introduced the largest children’s choir in the world. More than 8,000 school children were there to sing and all their friends and family joined the arena to support them! In addition to all the songs the choirs had rehearsed, special guests also joined the stage to sing and entertain the young voices crowd. Ja-cob Mitchell, aka MC Grammar, (multi-award-winning teacher turned rapper and viral social me-dia sensation); Tommy Blaize (lead singer of the BBC Strictly Come Dancing band for 20 incredible years) and Souparnika Nair (14yr old young singer who rose to popularity after her show-stopping audition on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent 2020 at the age of 10) sang on the stage too. The breath-taking gig also included regular street dance performances by a group titled ‘Urban Strid-ers’ who change lives through music and dance, helping people transform their self-belief both inside and outside the dance studio. Family and friends even had a chance to dance in a mini rave and reminisce with some classics! The grand finale was of course the Bob Marley Medley which got everyone on their feet singing and dancing, waving their torches around in the air.
At the end of the concert and a huge standing ovation, the elated and exhausted children pro-ceeded back to their coaches (not unexpectedly) in a long line, definitely ready to sleep…and some of our passengers did!
It truly was an amazing evening.
Young Voices 2025 was an experience we’ll never forget!
