Week beginning 1st June Three Little Pigs

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely half term and enjoyed the glorious weather. This week we will be following the whole school topic of fairy tales. In Nursery we will be concentrating on the story of 'The Three Little Pigs.'

Challenge

For your challenge this week we would like you to watch or read, with a family member, the story of 'The Three Little Pigs.' Think about the different houses the pigs built and in which order they were built. Can you make your own houses for the pigs in the correct order? You could either stick bits of paper onto house templates to look like bricks, straw and sticks or you could build your own houses using Lego, drinking straws and sticks.

Here are some other activities you could try.

The three little pigs were all different heights. Can you find three things in your house that are all different heights/lengths? Have a go at putting them in order. Which is the tallest/longest? Which is the shortest?

Collect different materials / objects. Blow or maybe use a hairdryer and see what items do or do not move? Which ones are strong?

Can you make a pig out of junk? You could use a bottle, egg carton or toilet roll. What else could you use?

Using cotton buds and paint, colour in a picture of one of the pigs, creating lots of dots! There is a template below you could use.

Design a house for the three little pigs. You could try and draw it outside using chalk or onto a piece of paper. What would you use to build the house? Do you think the wolf would be able to blow it down?
