Multiplication and Division Learning

15.6.20: Revisiting multiplication and division

This week we are revisiting multiplication and division. This was covered earlier during lockdown but it is good to recap and revisit learning in different ways, particularly in Year 1. Learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s is good preparation for Year 2 and this week we will also be looking at equal groups, which is an important step to understanding multiplication and division.

You can find games for counting in 2s, 5s and 10s on websites like www.topmarks.co.uk and www.ictgames.com. Try practical activities and challenges at home like finding out how many shoes you have altogether as a family, how many fingers/toes you have as a family or how many jaffa cakes there are in 3 boxes.... (all counting in 2s, 5s or 10s of course!) Your child could also work out the total amount of money if they have some 2p, 5p or 10p coins. Have fun!

There are a couple of extra activities at the end for any children who are feeling keen and want some more maths...
