Maths Warm Up

Can you solve these logic squares? Adding the shapes in a row or column gives the total number shown at the end. Can you calculate what each shape is worth?

Hint: start by calculating what the green square is worth.  Green square x 4 = 36.

If you enjoyed this, you can have a go at solving these logic number sentences. The shapes are worth the same as they are in the grid.

Year 3 Maths – Friday Maths Challenge

Summer Term - Week 1, Friday Maths Challenge

Please note that we are currently working one week behind the White Rose website. This week we are doing Summer Term – Week 1.

On Fridays, your daily maths will involve solving some puzzling challenge questions. The most suitable questions for Year 3 in this challenge are 1, 2, 3, & 4. You can work with your family on the problems and help each other out. Don't worry if you find them tricky, just have a go! Challenges want to stretch your brain and make you think really hard.

If you have found this task tricky or if you would like to continue learning, you could invent your own challenge based on one of the questions and ask a family member to solve it. For example, you could use shapes to represent different numbers (like in Challenge 1) and see if your family can figure out what the value of the shapes are.

If you have found this task tricky or if you would like to continue learning, you could invent your own challenge based on one of the questions and ask a family member to solve it. For example, you could make some of your own digit cards (like in Challenge 3) and see how many different 3 or 4 digit numbers you can make, or how many different number sentences.
